Six years ago, I was sitting in my treatment room doing what every beauty professional does: making it work with whatever light I had.
A ring light borrowed from a photography setup. An overhead fluorescent that washed everything out. A repositionable dual-arm lamp that wobbled every time a client moved. I kept straining forward, repositioning, compensating. I had so many lights on in the room that it would heat up, and I had to crank the AC just to keep it cool. And I kept asking the same question: why has no one built a light designed specifically for us?
The answer was simple and frustrating. No one had. Every lighting option available to beauty professionals had been borrowed from another industry. Photography. Crafting. Office work, influencers. None of them were purpose-built for what I did: close-up, high-precision, hands-on service work. The lights could only light up half of my client's face at a time; if I had to, they would fight each other. I danced around shadows, contorting my back and shoulders to see clearly and apply the lashes where I needed them. The light stands were unstable. My eyes were strained, and at the end of a full day of services, my body paid the price.
So I decided to be the one to change the way we saw things in the treatment room.
Building Something That Did Not Exist
